Just submitted our update!

Apologies for the delay with this, we basically had to rewrite the app to get things stable. The joys of releasing early, eh? But, at long last, we've submitted the update. Hopefully it'll be live within a week or so. Here's the release notes we're including:

Enormous across the board update! We did a huge rewrite of browsing and reading for stability and speed. If you got the app and crashed, that's totally fixed now. Plus, we added lots of other goodies to make the app approximately six billion times more enjoyable to read on.

* Rewrite for stability- if you were crashing, install this update! Those issues are completely resolved.
* Crashes - gone, kaput, bada bing bada boom.
* Offline reading - no more annoying 'no internet connection' error. We save Top 25 and Featured locally and update in the background so you can browse anytime, online or offline.
* Return to book - if you exit from a book you'll return directly to that book.
* Revamped book management- - designed for managing large collections with sorting and easy deletion of books.
* Genres browsing - silky smooth instead of laggy and annoying. Much easier to browse those Pirate Tales, Banned Books, and Harvard Classics.
* Search - much more clear, much more obvious. Searches both titles and authors.

The plan!

I'm rather taking to this whole posting by email thing- much easier to blog from my phone.

So, here's the deal- new update is done within the next four days or so (yay!). Free Books was originally going to be a quickie app- throw it out, make rent money. Turns out, it's Top 100 in a few countries, and top ten in books in most all of the major markets. That led to a huge disconnect in quality- the application on the market didn't represent our team's new vision for the app, and definitely didn't have the stability that is necessary for a popular app.

So, we went through, cleaning out tons of problems, fixing lots of interface problems, adding the basis for some incredible features, and starting to really track which books are downloaded in a more effective way. Future updates will build greatly atop this base, and all our customers will be able to enjoy a much, much better all around app. Interested in beta testing it?
